AT HOME EUTHANASIA

It is never easy to let your precious fur baby cross over the Rainbow Bridge, but when the time comes, you want your pet to be as comfortable as possible. One way to ensure their comfort during this time is by embracing at-home euthanasia for pets.

At-home euthanasia is becoming more and more accepted by families all over the country. The veterinarian comes to your home and administers the life-ending drugs while your pet is surrounded by family members in the place they were most happy. This might be on his favorite dog bed. Or maybe it is on the couch she wasn't supposed to lie on, but you let her anyway. Did he love playing in the backyard? Then maybe that is where you want to say goodbye. You can even have your baby in your lap during this time. Whatever the place or situation, you can be assured that the process will be comforting for all of the members of the family that participate.

The euthanasia process incorporates the same drugs that would be used if you went to the veterinarian's office. There is one drug that relaxes and sedates your animal. After they appear to have fallen asleep, the concentrated anesthetic is administered to stop brain and bodily functions. The entire process is designed to be as humane, peaceful, and painless as possible.

After your pet has passed, you are given time to say your goodbyes. Most at-home euthanasia veterinarians have a relationship with a pet crematory, like Pet Memories, that will handle the cremation. You will then have your pet's cremated remains returned to you within a couple of days.

Euthanasia at home does not make the loss of your pet better, but it might make the goodbye just a little easier.
